Spring blossomed on my commute home yesterday: Sunny and 54°F.

I ran my 4th Anthem 5K this morning. Something around 7,000 runners turned up for the event. It seemed like a much larger field than last year, when it poured rain. It was chilly, about 37°F (3°C), and it began to snow as mid-packers were finishing.

Bill McKibben looks like the photo on his dust jacket, tall and thin, with a practical grey crew cut and unpretentious round wire glasses. He’s at the front of a small room in the new wing of UofL’s Ekstrom Library, and his voice hums in low tones that make me wonder, as I have been recently, whether I am losing more high end to age or whether the PA is just managed by somebody with the aural sensitivity of a tree.
