Tidings to the tribe. Trash that’s trivial.

Examine each question in terms of what is ethically and aesthetically right, as well as what is economically expedient.

La Fiesta

Thanks to all the cool folks who joined me for tapas to celebrate my birthday at Mojito last night.

If you’re in Louisville and haven’t checked it out yet, I recommend it.  They do hospitality right, with smiles and even a few wise cracks, some bilingual.  The Mojito staff took the extra step of bringing me a bouquet of  cut flowers and balloons, along with a huge card.  They put on a spread of literally dozens of tapas, all delicioso.  The gambas al ajillo, the sweet potato fries, the calamari, the pinchos, and the mussles were all huge hits.  The mojitos seemed to be going to fast and furious as well.

On the way to the cafe after our Latin dance class, I told Jenn, “I wish we could do something like this, and invite John, and Deb, and Jeff, and Hillary down from Michigan, and Dawn and George from Des Moines, and Peter from Minneapolis, and Dan from Cape Cod… How cool would that be?”  And I do wish I could celebrate with all of our friends from all over.

But if geography prevented you from making the party, don’t worry.  The Kentucky contingent did a fantastic job of sharing the good times with me.  Somehow, my liquor collection has grown substantially overnight.

Kandi and Sam went way out of their way to find and frame pictures of our friends at the Kentucky Derby, which is just incredibly thoughtful.  They also brought in a framed picture of me for everybody to sign with wise ass remarks.  Very nice.

Jennifer, I can never thank enough.  When I told our server, “My bill goes to the attractive young lady in the black blouse,” he replied, “Yeah, she’s pretty sexy.”  With her big smile and warmth to all of our friends, she was sexy, all night long.

Thanks again, all.  I’m a pretty lucky guy.
