Tidings to the tribe. Trash that’s trivial.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Chicago Marathon Registration Closed

I wasn’t planning to run Chicago next fall–it turns out to be a pretty expensive weekend–but I was stunned when I received an email from LaSalle Bank Sports indicating that registration is already closed. I’m fairly sure I’ve registered in late May in previous years, though getting a hotel downtown after May is something like impossible.

In other news, I’m running the Derby Marathon next week. My long run has topped out at about 15 miles. Somehow, adding another 11 sounds like a lot to me this morning.

Still, I’m confident I’ll finish. It’s more a matter of how slowly. Look for me in the back of the pack.

I’m hoping that my pal David will run the first 11 with me and split to finish off the half, so at least I won’t be alone for the first half.

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I’ve run endurance events on minimal training, but this will definitely be the least prepared I have been ever.

In the meantime, tshirts for those who ran all 3 of the Louisville Triple Crown races are available at Fleet Feet, so I know how I’ll be spending my lunch hour.
