Tidings to the tribe. Trash that’s trivial.

Examine each question in terms of what is ethically and aesthetically right, as well as what is economically expedient.

Considering Late Retirement

Tony is trying to convince me to form my own LLC and go back into business for myself.

“C’mon, Man,” he says. “You got skills.”

“But I also have a family,” I think to myself, and I’m sure it shows on my face.

“Forty bucks to file for your LLC, and you’re in business. Boom!” He is a cheerleader without the megaphone and sweater.

“Yeah, but I’d have to give up running and time with the kids,” I sigh.

“A little sacrifice now, for a little freedom later,” he reminds me.

I walk back to my desk and rest my coffee cup on a legal pad next to my keyboard.

“Early retirement,” I think to myself. Winter in Santa Fe; summer in the Arrowhead. Nice.

Then, I realize I have only twelve more years to spend time with my two favorite people before they go off to college, graduate school, the peace corps, or some other pursuit of their passions.

I need freedom today.

I’ll retire late.
